Excerpted from a semester long exercise in design of high comfort spaces that have a minimum environmental impact. Given a site in NYC, this project examined thermal-dynamics, envelope assemblies, daylighting, glare, as well as active and passive control systems using Climate Studio, Climate Consultant and Urbano.

DAYLIGHT, VISUAL COMFORT, ELECTRIC LIGHTING

A floor is extracted from the NYC office building being designed, with a 20% core and glazing on all four sides. It is divided into three regions: open office area, circulation near core and circulation near windows.

The analysis maximizes daylight autonomy and minimizes disturbing glare while achieving target illuminance of 300 lux.
